MG ALBA in partnership with Screen Scotland and the BFI are offering the following to successful candidates:

  • Up to six months of paid full-time on the job training on work placements across various Gaelic and English language productions in TV/FILM scripted, factual programming and other projects within the creative digital media sectors
  • A programme of short induction courses with BECTU Vision
  • Tailored support and guidance throughout for each trainee.

You will be working with, and learning from, industry professionals as part of a team, gaining on the job experience in a real working environment.

Trainees will be employed by MG ALBA and receive a monthly salary based on the Real Living Wage (Currently at £12 per hour before tax and NI.) This will be paid at the end of each month.

When attached to on-the-job work placements within the drama production sector you will work up to 55 hours a week.

Online training workshops and on-the-job placements on factual productions will generally involve a 37.5 hour-week.

Traineeships will commence from 15 or 22 April 2024 for 6 months and are offered to applicants not in full-time education.

The first placement will be on set with Black Camel Pictures on a new high-end Gaelic TV drama.  Filming will be on Harris & Lewis and in Glasgow.

Other placements will be either within the Western isles or on mainland Scotland.

Trainees will be reimbursed for travel and accommodation costs but must be flexible and prepared to be located in different geographical areas throughout the traineeship.

We are particularly looking for people with an interest in the following roles, however candidates should be willing to be placed within other departments too:

  • Camera
  • Sound
  • Art Department / Graphics
  • Production / Locations
  • Script Supervision & Continuity
  • Post Production

Desirable skills/experience:

  • Gaelic
  • Previous experience or involvement in creative digital media
  • Driving licence
