Active Sponsorship

MG ALBA is currently title sponsor for the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards and the MG ALBA Scottish Women’s Football Awards.

MG ALBA have sponsored the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards since 2008. Launched in 2003 by Hands up for Trad, the annual awards are held at a different venues each December, with the aim of highlighting Scotland’s wonderful traditional music in all its forms and to create a high profile opportunity which will bring the music and music industry into the spotlight of media & public attention. The awards are also broadcast live on BBC ALBA.

MG ALBA have sponsored the MG ALBA Scottish Women’s Football Awards since 2018, when the awards were relaunched by Scottish Women’s Football, the organisation responsible for the domestic football competitions in Scotland. BBC ALBA has been broadcasting women’s football since it launched in 2008 and has recently been known as the ‘Home of Women’s Sport in Scotland’.

Community

MG ALBA has a small budget for allocation to community based projects for the purposes of ensuring that we play a responsible part in the community in which the majority of our staff are employed or in the Gaelic community generally. Single awards of up to £250 may be made when an application meets the following criteria:

The project promotes corporate social responsibility or good relations in the community where MG ALBA as employer is located or in a Gaelic community, advances the presentation or creative skills of project participants in a manner that offers benefit to the Gaelic creative sector or advances education in matters relating to Gaelic language or culture; and

The project is being undertaken through the medium of Gaelic or its participants commit to using Gaelic as their working language or to promoting Gaelic generally.
