CBBC ALBA Commissioning Round – 2021

Below you can find out more about the CBBC ALBA Commissioning Round – 2021.

About

BBC ALBA serves up a brilliant mix of kids’ shows and cartoons to Gaelic-speaking children under the CBeebies ALBA and CBBC ALBA brands.

We want every one of our young viewers to be able to see their lives and language reflected back to them and are placing greater emphasis on live-action formats that connect in an immediate and relatable way.

We are currently seeking proposals for original live-action formats tailored specifically for our CBBC ALBA audience (aged 7-12).

Genres

The genres we are interested in are:

Factual entertainment

  • Formats with an intergenerational element– what experiences can young people share with grown-ups?
  • Informative and fun– a learning “take-away” but also an opportunity for kids to laugh their socks off.

Comedy and entertainment

  • Sketch shows– a modular approach so that sketches can be broken down and used on other platforms.
  • Magic or pranks– funny, escapist, returning formats.

Funding

The project will have a funding contribution from MG ALBA of £150,000.

We also expect that as a minimum, the successful company will apply for match-funding to the BFI’s Young Audience Content Fund as well as for UK tax credits.

The successful project will be expected to produce and deliver in this financial year.
