DIY le Donnie

BBC ALBA – Diardaoin 14 Faoilleach 2016 aig 9.00f

DONNIE ‘DOTAMAN’ MACLEOD RETURNS TO BBC ALBA TO PROVIDE DIY HINTS AND TIPS

Popular Gaelic TV personality Donnie ‘Dotaman’ MacLeod returns to our screens this week with another series showcasing his DIY abilities.

Following on from the success of the first series, BBC ALBA follows Donnie over a period of six weeks as he undertakes jobs around his own home, including replacing a shower room. And as in previous instalments, he visits experts to see what’s currently available to DIYers in the marketplace.

New to this series, Donnie loads his tools into the van and hits the road, tackling viewers’ DIY challenges in Barra and Glasgow.

Donnie starts in Barra, where Roddy’s gates are in such a state that they’re beyond repair. Donnie shows us that new gates need not cost the earth as we see him plan and construct a pair of new wooden gates, much to Roddy’s delight.

Staying in Barra, Donnie meets Chrissie whose beautiful porch was built thirty years ago. However the weather and the years haven’t been kind: the wood is rotten and the porch is leaking badly. Donnie, as usual, has a solution! He cuts the rotten parts out and fills them, and with moulded PVC, he clads the porch and seals it with silicone, leaving Chrissie with a warm, dry porch in which to sit and do the crossword!

In Glasgow, Donnie visits Rona’s house, where the family are living with a wall that husband Andy had tried to plaster after watching an online video. It turns out it wasn’t as easy as it looked and he ended up ruining the wall! In no time at all, Donnie has the wall down and a new super smooth plasterboard wall up and painted!

Produced and directed by Alasdair Maclean of BBC Gàidhlig for BBC ALBA, DIY le Donnie starts on the channel on Thursday 14 January at 9.00pm.

Tha Donnie Dòtaman MacLeòid air ais le sreath eile a’ sealltainn a chomasan sònraichte air DIY! Às dèidh cho soirbheachail ‘s a bha a’ chiad sreath, leanaidh sinn Donnie ‘s e a’ làimhseachadh phròiseactan san taigh aige fhèin agus ‘s e aonan dhiubh sin, seòmar-frasaidh ùr a chur a-steach. Bidh e cuideachd a’ coinneachadh ri eòlaichean anns gach roinn airson faighinn a-mach dè tha ri fhaighinn sna bùithtean a chuidicheas dhaoine a tha ri beagan DIY.

Ùr san t-sreath seo, bidh Donnie air an rathad ‘s e a’ siubhal eadar Glaschu agus Barraigh a’ cuideachadh dhaoine le na trioblaidean DIY aca fhèin.

Tha Donnie a’ tòiseachadh ann am Barraigh far a bheil seann gheataichean Roddy a’ tuiteam às a chèile ach le beagan cuideachaidh bho Donnie a tha a’ dèanamh dà gheata ùra, faodaidh daoine a bhith a’ falbh agus a’ tighinn mar a thogras iad.

Cuideachd ann am Barraigh, tha e a’ coinneachadh ri Criosaidh aig a bheil poirdse a chaidh a thogail bho chionn deich air fhichead bliadhna. Tro na bliadhnaichean, tha an aimsir air buaidh a thoirt air a’ phoirdse; tha am fiodh air breothadh agus tha e ag aoidion gach turas a bhios uisge agus gèile ann. Ach, tha freagairt aig Donnie! Tha e a’ gearradh am fiodh lobhte às agus ga lìonadh; an uair sin, tha e a’ cur còmhdadh PVC air a’ phoirdse agus a’ cur silicone air, a’ ciallachadh gu bheil poirdse Chriosaidh dìonach, blàth agus seasgair air thoiseach air droch gheamhradh agus faodaidh i a bhith suidhe ann gach latha leis an tòimhseachan-tarsainn.

Ann an Glaschu, tha Donnie a’ tadhal aig Rona ‘s a teaghlach aig a bheil trioblaidean le balla a bh’ air a mhilleadh nuair a dh’fheuch an duine aice a làmh air obair phlèastar às dèidh bhidio a choimhead air-loidhne! Ach cha do shoirbhich le Andy mar a bha e an dùil agus tha aig Donnie ris a’ bhalla thoirt sìos agus tòiseachadh às ùr!

Tha sia prògraman san t-sreath seo agus bidh iad ri fhaicinn air BBC ALBA a’ tòiseachadh Diardaoin 14 Faoilleach 2016 aig 2100. Chaidh na prògraman a riochdachadh le Alasdair MacIlleathain airson BBC Gàidhlig le maoineachadh bho MG ALBA.
