BBC ALBA’S FLAGSHIP DRAMA – BANNAN – RETURNS WITH A NEW SERIES

Bannan, BBC ALBA’s flagship drama, returns this week for a series of five new episodes, following the residents of the island community of Camus and the events and relationships that shape their lives.

In the new series, Sarah Jane (played by Angela MacKay) strives to put her past behind her, but struggles as Pàdruig (Ewen MacKinnon) is now living on the island and has befriended her husband. She confides in Màiri (Debbie MacKay) but as the situation begins to escalate Màiri’s involvement seems only to make things worse for Sarah Jane.

Teenager, Isla (Mairi MacLennan) is desperate to escape from the hum drum of Camus, but soon realises that her city home is not all that she yearned for and adds further turmoil to her life.

With their debts paid, Donna (Donna Morrison) and Finlay (David Walker) think their problems are over – but soon discover they’ve only just begun.

School girl, Ceitidh (Meredith Brook Young) uses her wit and wisdom to try and cheer up her older brother Anndra (Iain Beggs) as he tries to make amends with his ex. Ciorstaidh (Ellen MacDonald) and best friend, Iain (Alasdair MacLennan).

Tormod (Ian Macrae) helps Iseabail (Mairi Morrison) to say goodbye to the city and to Uncle Roddy (Calum MacKinnon) but Uncle Roddy will miss Iseabail more than she realises.

And Peigi (Peggy Wood) leaves to take care of her sister - but even from afar, she has her finger on the pulse of the Camus community.

Bannan is filmed in the village of Tarskavaig in Sleat, on the Isle of Skye, and is produced for BBC ALBA by Young Films – the production company founded by Chris Young, producer of The Inbetweeners.

The new series of Bannan starts on BBC ALBA on Wednesday 21 September at 9.00pm.

BANNAN – AIR AIS LE SREATH ÙR AIR BBC ALBA

Tha Bannan a’ tilleadh gu BBC ALBA an t-seachdain seo le sreath de chòig phrògraman ùra a bhios a’ leantainn na tha a’ dol anns a’ coimhearsnachd eileanach, Camus. Tha mòran ri rèiteachadh eadar càirdean, caraidean agus eòlas a chuir air caractaran ùra.

San t-sreath ùr, chi sinn ciamar a tha a’ dol le Sarah Jane ’s i a’ feuchainn ri cùisean a chuir air a cùlaibh. Ach le Pàdruig a-nis a’ fuireach air an eilean agus na charaid leis an duine aice, chan eil cùisean furasta. Tha i a’ cur earbsa ann an Màiri agus an dèan sin cùisean nas fhasa no nas duilghe?

Chi sinn ciamar a tha a’ dol le Isla sa bhaile mhòir; tha Donna agus Fionnlagh a’ faighinn trioblaidean às ùra; tha Ceitidh a’ feuchainn ri togail a thoirt do dh’Anndra; tha Tormod a’ toirt taic do Mhàiri ’s i a’ fàgail a’ bhaile ach bheil Roddy dol ga h-ionndrainn nas motha na bha e a’ smaoineachadh? Agus tha Peigi a’ togail oirre gus coimhead às dèidh a piuthar – ach ged a tha astar eadar i is a' choimhearsnachd chan eil mòran a tha a’ tachairt ann an Camus a’ dol seachad oirre!

Tha Bannan air a chlàradh ann am baile Tarskavaig ann an Slèite san Eilean Sgitheanach. Tha e air a riochdachadh airson BBC ALBA le Young Films – an companaidh riochdachaidh stèidhichte le Chris Young, riochdaire The Inbetweeners.

Tha sreath ùr Bannan a’ tòiseachadh air BBC ALBA Diciadain 21 Sultain aig 9.00f.
