Scotland’s acclaimed music festival Belladrum will next weekend celebrate its tenth year and BBC ALBA viewers are invited to join the party as the channel provides exclusive live festival coverage for the third consecutive year.

BBC ALBA will screen two special live programmes - Belladrum 2013: Cridhe Tartan - from the sold-out festival on Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd August.

Among the acts performing for BBC ALBA viewers and festival-goers will be Twin Atlantic, James, Alabama 3, The Horrors, Noisettes, Nina Nesbitt, The Peatbog Faeries and Lucy Spraggan to name but a few.

Live coverage will also be complemented by a show looking back at the best of the weekend – complete with special unseen performances - on the evening of Saturday 10th August. Each programme will be hosted by popular BBC ALBA presenters, Fiona MacKenzie and Niall Iain MacDonald.

Now entering its tenth year, the event is firmly established as one of the most friendly and eclectic festivals on the calendar. This year’s two day festival has once again sold out and more than 15,000 music fans will descend on the Belladrum Estate by Beauly, Inverness-shire, to enjoy a range of great acts.

For music fans watching at home on BBC ALBA, Friday’s coverage will include the chance to hear Garden Stage headliners Twin Atlantic LIVE. The Glasgow band has quickly built a large fan base following two acclaimed studio albums, 2009’s Vivarium and their follow-up Free in 2011. They’ll be joined at the festival by the eclectic Alabama 3, who headline the Hothouse Stage following a performance from English indie rock outfit The 1975, who will release their eponymous debut album in early September.

Saturday’s Garden Stage performances, meanwhile, will include the return of festival favourites James to Belladrum. The Manchester band, led by singer Tim Booth, have enjoyed a hugely successful career since forming in 1982 which spans 12 studio albums and they will receive a warm welcome on their return to Belladrum following their legendary performance at the festival in 2007.

The Horrors and The Pigeon Detectives play the Hothouse Stage and both will be performing live on BBC ALBA. The Horrors headline the Hothouse Stage at Belladrum fresh from work on their fourth album, the follow-up to 2011’s acclaimed LP, Skying. The Pigeon Detectives are also on the road with fresh material following the release of their fourth LP, We Met At Sea, in April this year.

Producer of the BBC ALBA live festival coverage, Donna L. Murchison, said: “We’re all set for Belladrum 2013 and this year we will be bringing viewers coverage from two stages, which means live performances from three acts every night and music highlights from across the two days. We are delighted to be a part of the 10th festival celebrations at Belladrum: the atmosphere and variety of acts at this boutique festival, come rain or shine, is second to none.

“We hope our exclusive coverage has something to offer every musical taste. With the event now sold out, music fans who didn’t manage to get a ticket can tune into BBC ALBA to enjoy the highland spectacle of great live music and highlights from the comfort of their own homes.”
