TRADMENDOUS NEWS AS GAELIC MEDIA SERVICE CONTINUES TRAD SUPPORT

Trad Awards 2013 Sponsorship

MG ALBA (The Gaelic Media Service) is delighted to announce that it is continuing its support for the Scots Trad Music Awards which this year will take place in the Music Hall, Aberdeen in December.

This will be the sixth year that MG ALBA has sponsored the awards which are regarded by many as the highlight of the Traditional Music calendar and which this year visit Aberdeen for the first time.

The MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards were first staged in 2003 and aim to increase the profile and visibility of Scottish traditional music. The awards are voted for by the general public and attract around 100,000 votes each year. Public voting for the 2013 MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards will open on Monday 4th November.

Donald Campbell, Chief Executive of MG ALBA, said “The Trad Awards recognise excellence and MG ALBA is pleased to be supporting the awards again this year. We are proud to be associated with the talent that exists in Scotland and we very much look forward to working with Hands Up For Trad on this year’s event in Aberdeen.”

Simon Thoumire, Creative Director for Hands Up For Trad, welcomed the continuing support of MG ALBA saying: “We are delighted that MG ALBA has once again agreed to sponsor the Scots Trad Music Awards this year. We are very excited about taking the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards this year to Aberdeen for the first time.”

The MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards 2013 ceremony will be held at a prestigious Gala concert in the Music Hall in Aberdeen on Saturday 7 December and will feature live performances from a stellar cast including Blazing Fiddles, Kathleen MacInnes, The Shee and many more.

Tha MG ALBA air naidheachd fhoillseachadh an-diugh gu bheil iad gu bhith mar phrìomh chompanaidh ghoistidh air Duaisean Ceòl Traidiseanta na h-Alba 2013 (Na Trads), a ghabhas àite ann an Talla Chiùil Obar Dheathain, airson a’ chiad uair a-riamh, air Disathairne 7 Dùbhlachd.

’S e seo an 6mh bliadhna aig MG ALBA a bhith a’ toirt taic do Na Trads, a tha a-nis air fàs chun ìre far a bheil iad nan prìomh tachartas na bliadhna ann an ceòl traidiseanta ann an Alba.

Chaidh Na Trads a chumail airson a’ chiad uair ann an 2003, leis an amas ìomhaigh agus aithne ceòl traidiseanta ann an Alba a thogail. ’S ann leis a’ phobaill a tha na bhòtaichean gan cuir, le 100,000 a’ bhòtadh gach bliadhna. Fosglaidh duaisean 2013 airson bhòtadh air Diluain 4 Samhain.

Thuirt Dòmhnall Caimbeul, Àrd-Oifigear MG ALBA: “Tha duaisean Na Trads ag aithneachadh sàr-mhathas agus tha sinne fìor thoilichte taic a thoirt do na duaisean a-rithist am-bliadhna. Tha MG ALBA moiteil a bhith ceangailte leis an tàlant a th’ againn ann an Alba agus tha sinn a’ coimhead air adhart gu mòr gu bhith ag obair còmhla ri Hands up for Trad.”

Chuir Simon Thoumire, Stiùiriche Hands up for Trad, fàilte air an naidheachd mu thaic MG ALBA. Thuirt e: “Tha sinn air leth toilichte gu bheil taic againn a-rithist bho MG ALBA. Tha a’ cho-bhanntachd a tha air a bhith againn bho 2008 air cothrom a thoirt dhuinn ar ceòl a thoirt gu luchd-èisteachd ùra le àrd-ùrlar airson tàlant ùr, agus comharrachadh a thoirt chun luchd-ciùil stèidhichte. Tha sinn a’ coimhead air adhart gu mòr gu oidhche nan Duaisean.”

Thèid oidhche Duaisean Na Trads MG ALBA 2013 air adhart le cuirm sònraichte ann an Obar Dheathain air 7 Dùbhlachd.
