MG ALBA AND HANDS UP FOR TRAD PARTNERSHIP SHORTLISTED FOR ARTS AND BUSINESS SCOTLAND AWARD

MG ALBA and Hands up for Trad, sponsors and organisers respectively of the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards, have warmly welcomed the news that the partnership has been shortlisted for an award at the Arts and Business Scotland Awards 2012.

The Trad Awards, which promote excellence in Scottish Traditional music, have been running since 2002 and have been sponsored by MG ALBA since 2008. The shortlist nomination is in the Sustained Partnership category for partnerships of four years or more that have set standards in creative arts-business collaborations. Among other partnerships in the same award category are Scottish Power/Celtic Connections (Glasgow Life) and Bank of Scotland/Imaginate.

Simon Thoumire Director of Hands Up for Trad said: “We are absolutely delighted that our partnership with MG ALBA has been recognised by being shortlisted for the Sustained Partnership Award at the 2012 Arts and Business Scotland Awards. Our partnership is an exceptional cultural fit, providing a highly visible platform for the Scots Trad Music Awards, ensuring that with the coverage on BBC ALBA we reach wider audiences across Scotland and beyond. Being shortlisted is particularly fabulous for us, ahead of the 10th Anniversary Scots Trad Music Awards, taking place in Fort William in December 2012”

The Arts and Business Scotland Awards are run by Arts and Business Scotland which was first formed in 1986 and is an independent registered Scottish charity

The 2012 Arts and Business Scotland Awards will be presented by Fiona Hyslop MSP Cabinet Secretary for Culture and External Affairs in Edinburgh on Wednesday 24th October.

Tha MG ALBA a’ cur fàilte air an naidheachd gu bheil an co-bhanntachd eadar iad fhèin agus Hands up for Trad air ainmeachadh air geàrr-liosta airson Duaisean Ealain agus Gnìomhachas na h-Alba 2012.

Tha Hands up for Trad a’ ruith Duaisean nan Trads gach bliadhna agus tha MG ALBA air a bhith na phrìomh chompanaidh ghoistidheachd air na duaisean fad ceithir bliadhna, bho 2008. ’S ann sa ghnè Co-bhanntachd Seasmhachd a chaidh a’ cho-bhanntachd ainmeachadh.

Thuirt Simon Thoumire, Stiùiriche Hands up for Trad: “Tha Hands Up for Trad air leth toilichte gu bheil an co-bhanntachd eadar sinn fhèin agus MG ALBA air ainmeachadh air geàrr-liosta nan duaisean seo. ’S e co-bhanntachd uabhasach feumail a tha ann, a tha air Duaisean nan Trads agus cèol traidiseanta a thoirt gu ìre eile agus gu luchd-amhairc fad is farsaing air BBC ALBA. Tha an naidheachd seo sònraichte math dhuinne cuideachd nuair a tha sinn a’ coimhead air adhart chun 10mh tachartas de Na Trads, a ghabhas àite sa Ghearastan san Dùbhlachd”

Tha Duaisean Ealain agus Gnìomhachas na h-Alba air a ruith le Ealain agus Gnìomhachas Alba, carthannas neo-eisimeileach a chaidh a stèidheachadh ann an 1986.

Thèid duaisean 2012 an toirt seachad le Fiona Hyslop BPA, Rùnaire a' Chaibineit airson Cultar agus Cùisean an Taobh A-muigh ann an Dùn Èideann air an 24mh Dàmhair.
