AWARD-WINNING DE A-NIS? CELEBRATES ITS 20TH SERIES

The popular, fast-paced Gaelic children’s TV show Dè a-nis?, is back on BBC ALBA for its 20th series with presenters Siobhan, Derek, Steph and Calum up to their usual madness, meeting youngsters and taking part in exciting events.

Regular features such as An Rud as Fheàrr leam return with children giving a snapshot of their lives while Barail na Basgaid takes to the skies with the kids airing their views on what they love and hate.

The exciting birthday slot will return along with the wackiest news from around the world in Telesgrios. The team will also be in Dunoon to bring viewers the best of the 2012 Royal National Mod which takes place in the town from Friday 12 October until Saturday 20th October. The new strand “An Sgoile againne” discovers what children love about their school. The exciting new game “Puingean nam Boingean” sees schools competing against one another to reach the top of the leader board.

First broadcast in 1993, De a-nis? has twice won the top award in the Children’s category at the Celtic Media Festival – in Caernarfon in 2009 and in Derry earlier this year.

The programme has often been the launch pad for a successful career in Gaelic broadcasting with the likes of Sarah Cruickshank (Skye) and Angela Smith (Lewis) and Tony Kearney (Barra), now all familiar television personalities.

The Producer of the De a-nis? series, Donnie MacLeod, himself a notable children’s presenter in his guise as Dòtaman, has been ever present in the team since the programme’s inception and the new series promises more fun and thrills.

Donnie said: “Dè a-nis? has always maintained a close contact with its young audience and we are grateful for their contribution over the years. It really wouldn’t be the popular show it is today without them.”
